This is a compilation of live clips from a day retreat "Nurturing Voice" that me and spiritual wellbeing coach & therapist Erika Juusola facilitated in Villa Valo, Oulu, Finland on the 26th of January 2024. In the end of the retreat I did about 1 hour long sound journey for the participants. This video contains 3 clips of my live improvisation concert Talven Tuoja (Winter Crone) in 26th of January 2024 in Villa Valo, Oulu, Finland. For this concert I had recorded moving water under the ice, moving icy flakes and downloaded legally samples like winter wind, ice rumble. What it comes to story-telling part, my inspiration source was Celtic Winter Crone Cailleach, who in the tales decides when the winter starts, how it is, and how it ends. She also takes care of the seed under the ice and snow so they can grow when Spring arrives and she protects wolves and deer species. She can also transform into a bird if needed. Today (14.5.2022) is the day of Finnish folk music and folk dance, so I wanted to share this song with you! 💛 To be deeply connected with nature and bringing or creating music in nature is very close to my heart. In nature the music was originally born and developed. That's where we were born. In the old days in Finland when you were about to enter the forest, you needed to first ask a permission for it, no matter what you were going to do there. The forest, its inhabitants, Spirits of nature were respected and it was considered important to live in harmony with the forest. Gifts could also be left for the forest. I have also started to practice this ritual or habit nowadays, ranging from sprinkling small nuts to earth to collecting trash and singing a song dedicated for the forest. I support revitalizing folklore and sharing knowledge with all nations, not just those in a small district. I am fascinated by pagan beliefs, rituals, myths and poems and they often serve as a source of inspiration in my music. I believe that by singing in nature and about nature, we can strongly connect with our roots. I believe that eternity lives in all of us and voice is the channel from which it can naturally get pulped out. Especially in nature. This song is where I sing in a nature reserve for bird souls. The melody is from a song created by Magdalena Mölsä aka Vaskilintu and me, made into an old Bird's Words spell poem (author unknown). My intuition led me to this beautiful stone village, a place that Finnish people in the earlier days would've considered as sacred. A place to come and honor the Spirits of the forest. When I sat down I felt that there had been so many before me on the same spot. Asking for help, showing gratitude, giving gifts, connecting, enjoying, coming together and being nurtured. This song was an improvisation, a joyous folky dance song that started to come out of my mouth at the very moment when I felt I was 100% connected and just channelling what the Spirits of Nature wanted to hear. Singing there was my way of giving something back in exchange, showing respect and to send a message that I come with good intentions. Hope you enjoy it! Aaahh this was awesome collaboration with Underwater Aerialist Circus Artist Salla Hakanpää - Breathtaking Pieces of Art and Vantaan Viihdeorkesteri and TUULETAR - Vocal Folk Hop on #lintsigaala 😍 We got to perform Tuuletar song 'Odotan' (Waiting) which I have composed and @piiasailynoja written the text, which we haven't performed live in a looong time! 💓The song was born while watching my favourite river running over the big stones in Bergsjön, Gothenburg on 2015. For the song's sounds, rhythms and harmonies I tried to capture this image of running water. I was in a phase of waiting something to happen, waiting for a change, and the words 'Odotan' came to the song's refrain. After that Piia started to work with the text and created beautiful metaphors describing inner struggle. 💓 accidentally specifically this song got a water choreography, even though they had no idea of the song's origin! Koskelainen/Andreasen Near Life Experience Chaotic & Touching Contemporary Jazz (DK/FI) Koskelainen/Andreasen "Near Life Experience" (NLX) is chaotic and deeply moving co-operation of a danish saxophone player/big band conductor Jonas Enevoldsen Andreasen and a finnish vocalist Sini Koskelainen. Project was created in June 2012 in Århus, Denmark. Near Life Experience live show is emotionally heavy, powerful, chaotic, playful, unexpected and wild experience, that you really SHOULD SEE LIVE. Project's ingredients are original compositions, by Jonas and Sini, that mixes modern jazz, poems, improvisation and alternative music.
